Poll
Question:
BASE vs RACE
Option 1: Base
votes: 27
Option 2: Race
votes: 4
Option 3: SELENES UNIMPORTANT OPINION
votes: 3
From recent discussion, I figured why not. Do you like Base or Race more. Which mode do you think is the best, why? Do you think with improvements, one mode could surpass the other? Let's talk about it!
obviously base mode will win as I seem to be the only one who thinks race mode has the potential to surpass it if it got revamped
stupid poll/thread
I really don't get the point of this
on the base thread it was obvious I was the only one supporting race and there was like 5-10 people bashing race and saying how base is better
did we really need a poll to determine which is the more liked mode?
seems like you're just beating a dead horse at this point

you said it was a debate. You said if it was revamped it could be a legitimate mode. Expand on that and tell everyone how it should be developed more/what to add.
Don't like any.

ok
Here is how it could be revamped
If admins figure out how to make their own maps we can have maps designed specifically for race mode. Maps with actual flow like a real race track with obstacles to avoid and jump over/around. An actual start/finish line. A timer that counts down to the start of the race. And more.
Here is an example of a race track concept I made up real quick:

If you don't think it would be fun to race people through a course like that then I would be very surprised
Although I vote for base, I can see how amazing race mode can become with updates and additions. With some fixes base can also become much greater.
I like base more because it has an aspect of skill and some strategy to it. I don't really see much strategy in Race mode.
However, if it is possible to have BOTH modes I'd definitely like that. Race mode has potential, but I don't believe it can surpass Base.
Base.
Base because its base. Should try it sometime.
yeah why not
base is a complete mode (built in the game despite admins not giving a ****) that takes skill and technique to be competitive in, but can also be played for fun in a non competitive way
"race mode" is just a minigame that has barely something do do with the game itself, and takes almost no skills to play

you mean jumping?
because all thats needed is jump to avoid things basically
I disagree
theres more to it then just jumping
cooky explain your side or please just **** off.
Seriously saying " not in my opinion, there's more to it than that"
and then not explaining what else there is is retarded.

yeah pls cooky or it will look like you dont have any decent argument :(
Race mode on base maps.
if u played the mode u would know theres more to it then just 'jumping'
jumping might be the most important thing obviously I mean if you fail a jump you might be way behind or fall and die, but u gotta maneuver through the course and there are lots of things you need to do like trying to cut corners, avoid things, and going through the course the fastest route possible (strategy)
and with new courses it would only magnify those things

tl;dr jumping and double tapping in a particular direction then?
doesnt sound convincing

the most recent time I raced was with santa and randoms
raced 3 times or so on hoverbyte
****in rekt them no problem, and I don't race often.
It's not hard, it's actually incredibly easy.
this is why I didn't want to get into details.. because I know I have no chance of winning this argument as I am up against you 'ive played race 3 times I know everything about it' guys (now I know how some of you base fans must feel)
if you say how race is 'incredibly easy' and how its 'just jumping and double tapping' then explain why theres some players like me or oreos who are so much better then others. explain how there are people who literally practice races on their own to try and join my guild but just plain aren't good at it? if its just jumping and double tapping then certainly almost every race would be a close finish? well that's not true at all
Race takes skill and practice. And while it may be a simple concept, it, like many other things, takes time to master. It may not be as complex and skillful as base mode, but its far more then just jumping and double tapping.

race me 10 times on hoverbyte, any route you want, and i'll beat you 6/10 atleast.
hoverbyte is fun but is a bad track as all you do is run straight and jump a bunch of times lol
not a good track but sure we can play if u want
BvB is just tapping buttons, Sector is just tapping buttons, PvP is just tapping buttons, Race is just tapping buttons. ::)

because you have to tap and jump at the right spot, and some people cant do it? fact people cant do it doesnt mean it needs particular skills
score was 1/9
me being 1.
I have to say I am surpised that I lost, but the only thing I saw Cooky do that I didn't do, was running at specific moments. Which I don't consider to be very great depth.
good races purple
I know race isn't as in depth as base that's obvious :P base is more in depth that any mode in BC by far

also any amount of skill needed to play race would be maybe 1/20 of the skills needed to play base

ok
To race all you need to do is know the map and perfect where/when to jump. After a while it'll get boring and repetitive. In Base (Or PvP) the players on the other side have strategy and can change whenever they want. The mercs also add even more strategy and care into the game. If Race could have hitting it would be great but, honestly, how would that work? If a player, on the prototype map you drew, was allowed to hit another, he could easily push and the race wouldn't even be a race, but more so PvP.
When you play Base you can change your strategy anytime because it's Player vs. Player. Race on the other-hand is pretty much Player vs. Map because there is no fair way to allow hitting in the map. Obstacles will bring fun for like a week then when people realize how to maneuver and understand the map it'll get repetitive, like I said above.
Base with no improvements >>>>> Race "revamped"
Base with more improvements/new maps >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Race "revamped"
123bomb123 u made some really great points and you may be right that base is a better mode then race ever will be.. but look at how unpopular it is
seems like all the things u listed that are great about base.. are things most people aren't interested in
they rather the simple things like button mashing
which is why, in my mind, a revamped race mode would be more popular then a base mode
When you think about it though, t-bots removed BvB, even t-bots knew that BvB was reaching a dead end. If t-bots removed it, then BC might as well remove it as-well, as you know, they make good decisions. ::)
Jokes aside, why remove BvB for race? There is already a functional race mode without needing to remove base mode. Plus if Race ever gets revamped, then it can go and get revamped, and remain the same on how you can access it. Now you may say "this topic says nothing about removing base." Despite this topic not saying anything about removing base, it in turn is affected by Cooky's post about replacing Base with Race. Plus that is where the majority of comments are acting towards. Stop comparing them and just have both. ::)
yea why not just keep both modes

both race and base mode are unpopular
arguing one is more popular then the other seems pointless to me
sounds like a lotta jumpin to me.
