Title: Ross' Raid team
Post by: Rossbach on October 09, 2013, 06:07:08 PM
Timer:
(click to show/hide)

This will be a team-oriented Raid group, so you will be given a specific task in which you're expected to do good. You'll need to stick to your designated task, while not straying off from your task which causes problems for other members. Your task will be given to you by Ross, who will yell at you and call you a nub if you fk up. If you can't handle anything stated in this paragraph, don't apply. This raid group is meant to be a group of the best 8 players within this game. Note: If you can't stand losing 5+ games in a row, you should not apply.

Raid team list:

Official 235 raid group:

1. Ross  (Lead) ::) R
2. Allie (co-lead) R *
3. Med P *
4. Laxus
5. RK
6. Boogienub

I dont need to go in raids, got sometimes stuff to do but i can move that to other time.

Finally time to start raiding, sry for the wait. Ross wanted more people but sadly there is not that many people qualified (skill, availability, etc) for this team.

Ross will be doing raid runs at the following dates and times:

Saturday 16, Saturday 23, and Sunday 24.

The scheduled time will be at 4pm GMT -8 (Pacific time.) Keep in mind this is when it starts, you will be required to stay for hours past this point.

Refer to this if needed: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/pacific-time/

If there are any problems such as being unavailable during this or simply want a time change because it starts at 12am your time, then post here. There is still a while until the 16th.  ::)

If nothing is said you will be expected to be here BY the time posted (should arrive early as this is when it starts.)

If there are slots available for the raid from the main group, players in the waiting group will be selected to join.

Then Ross will select 2 people from the fill-ins at the start of the raid. Everyone from main and fillers are expected to be there ready (unless they post here in the forum that they can't come)  ::)

This is why Ross stalled for so long, was hoping for more that can be in main group.

Well allie projected that we would be able to finish this raid "in a couple months"  and as far as progress is concerned, farthest I've personally been in was wave 3. It has been pretty tough thus far organizing though, but I guess this is just another one of those tests.

Block 3 is simple if done right, and block 4 is arguably (sorta) the easiest block.
Block 5 is a hundred times harder than the rest, combined.
Based off this, it can be argued that the same week we can down block 3 on a consistent scale, block 4 will go down too.
We get to block 3 consistently every week, so I'd say we're maybe, 3 weeks off from getting to the fifth block, at least once. Two if we didn't cancel this week.

And thats the last block. I've discussed with ross that it'll be a long way, but it doesn't need a nerf yet. We'll likely nerf it once we get the first kill, and maybe distribute RT2 to everyone in the room. Then it'll get a nerf so other groups can do it easier, but still difficult (though obviously with a normal, two boxes per kill loot table).

What you refer to as blocks are what Ross calls waves? So block 5 is the boss wave?

We're on block 3  :P  she was just saying if and when we can familiarize ourselves with block 3 then we would be theoretically be able to finish block 4 in the same week due to it being fairly easy in comparison.

235 is easy as fk as long as you have people who can understand basics.  Sadly there is only Ross, and Med who are good and can understand things, then there is Allie who can at least understand stuff unlike everyone else.  ::)

Most of the people in the raid group still cant figure out how to combo Kow or position themselves not get hit by a gun.... There does not need to be players as skilled as Ross for this level, as if you have 8 people they each have a simple and easy role to do. Not like ur trying to solo this with a lv  1 or something . Only skills required is the ability to position yourself properly, and inf combo.

Ross wants it to be buffed, heck 235 is flawed and more easy than Ross wanted it to be. He left out a lot of challenging stuff he could of put in it, as well as 235 allows multiple places where you can stand and not get hit. There is a flaw where Kow can go around the turret. Wave 2, 3, 4, and 5 was "nerfed" in Ross' plans on what he wanted it to be like, as Allie claimed those things would be unfair and too hard.

First people were crying that Sector is too easy (221), and how no matter what you do in the end it will end up easy, yet when Ross makes a mid level difficulty map everyone is like fk this, impossible.  ::)

We need to add that back, it makes 3rd wave 70% more easy (wave 3 was made more easy in order to make up for the mechanic and never had time to change it up (wasted spawn spots that could be used for mobs like Mel / cannon)), and last wave 50000% more easy. There may be a safe spot in the last wave because of this.

Plus there was that super big bo---- mechanic that makes last wave 100000% more harder than it is... Ok this is probably an exaggeration but oh well.  ::)

Perhaps people do know the basics to sector, but don't fine tune their mechanics. Anyone can infinite combo, but the timing and placement for each level is something to be mastered.

Ex.  most 221+ can solo 239 hard, but most of them need hp/rb because they don't know how to time stonebat's attacks and block accordingly.

221 raid is also a good example. There are a bunch of full TD patches out there, but not all of them can carry a game solo because they rely too much on not being able to take damage that they get sloppy.  ::) this happens to me when I'm lazy

So mysterious.... Ross' idea:

They do not know how to Sector properly because there was no need to Sector properly. Plus sector is way too easy. Basically everyone just stacks them self full of TD so they are hidden under a bunch of 0 hits, use HP / RB drops, use Leech skill, and take like 30 mins to fail combo (/orjustupeprspamlikeafktard) a Kow / Code. Plus for raid you do have to actually do it fairly fast, you can't spend 30 mins  upper spamming a single mob to death (/there are exceptions where it is faster on high level mobs(ignoring low level mobs that you can 1/2/3hit) but there is only 2 tho (well 1 as one of them you can lure mobs properly)). They stand on pillars so they don't get hit by anything etc, which tbh is fine 235 raid includes it (sadly), however they do it all the time, they don't know how to position them self properly, or to avoid an attack (such as a gunners bullet, Code spinning, Kow drilling, etc). It is so funny when Ross watches people in Raid doing this:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------wall
blank (safe spot)
                                 Canon (Shoots all 4 ways)
blank (safe spot)                                                                         Cher
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------wall

You may ask, so where do they stand...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------wall
blank (safe spot)
Right here         Canon (Shoots all 4 ways)
blank (safe spot)                                                                         Cher
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------wall

Ok, yes you can stand / run there if you jump over the bullets.... But it seems they can't....  ::)

I think we need to raid more than just once per week (which we still don't accomplish sometimes). At this pace we are never gonna progress.

True, I can't raid on weekdays tho cause of school.

It is hard enough getting people on Saturday, never mind any other day. Ross once tried one on Sunday, going by the results that is not happening ever again. The only thing Ross would do about that matter is advertise for as many days as possible (mon-sun at a specific time), then wait 30 mins to see if it will be worthwhile.

Raid will be today at 4PM, PST. However don't expect Ross to give you another warning today, as he literally gets back at 4PM.  ::)

we're about halfway through block 3.
our main issue is that med is the only non-derp patch we can find, so the raids immediately cancelled if he's not there, and it's a wipe if he doesn't make it.

why
Ross was mainly pressing for a med / non-derpy patch to do Cher at the start, because everyone would fk up on him. However due to recent fixes (=/) there is no need for that. It was more or less a player that can actually doge bullets while luring the Cher. A patch can come useful for Kow, while Ross hates the idea of 1k TD, he can just send someone off to combo him. (Or in the case of nubs these days, upper spam him which is 10x slower.) Ross might as well get Kow then. As long as you understand how to combo a Kow, as well as know what to do when he runs away from you, then you might as well be in the official raid team... Still surprised at the raid members upper spamming him. Then when the Kow runs they chase after him. ::)

That is one of the most annoying things I see in 221. >_>

Usually I just shoot 1 bullet at it and it comes running back shortly.

How does Ross do it?
Shooting the Kow does work but I find it less effective. By the time you get all sorted out and shoot at it the bullet also has to travel to the running mob making it take longer. Running away will essentially do the opposite and shrink the distance that the Kow has to run for you to be out of its sight. This is faster and will cause the Kow to be closer for an easier lure. ;)

we're about halfway through block 3.
our main issue is that med is the only non-derp patch we can find, so the raids immediately cancelled if he's not there, and it's a wipe if he doesn't make it.
ill play raid with you guys i know im a little rusty but ill practice today and tommorow and get back in it.

I remember Allie saying she'd give everyone in the team to complete the raid, the whole set upon completion.
I'm not sure if she'll go through with this though.

Also, after being completed, the 2nd raid map, 235, will probably get another (final) small nerve.

Really good job last night guys.
I didn't believe we'd ever stand a chance until I nerfed it, but I've been proven wrong.
Our goal next week (if Ross is available) is to finish the map. And this time I believe we can do it.
I'm expecting the same players: Ross, Allie, Med, RK, Experiences, Cooky, and hopefully Laxus.

I wouldn't clarify my skills to be good enough too be on this team. But i am an average just above average sector player so i do know what i'm doing and can listen to players, take orders. (i know the team is full but this is just here incase someone doesn't make it one night, then i'm always up for it. If you drop me a whisper i'm game.)

IGN: DevilzDemise
Level: 270
Why do you want to join: Too be able to kick a**, and accomplish defeating rt2 and feeling the achievement of actually having beat  a challenge.
How available are you (job? school?) (can you stand playing for an hour+): Entirely available, can work my sleeping pattern around the timezone of which the time for raid is set and i can grind for hours.
Time zone: GMT
Do you randomly leave to do things such as walk your dog in the middle of a raid: Nope.

I agree, itll be a while before someone can beat it after we do so it will be rare dont you worry  ::)

no, it's suppose to be difficult, which it is. There's no replay value after all eight of you get it in one game snh

Yea, if you are the to even attempt it, who will play it when all eight of you don't need to anymore because you have the set? The map will be useless then.

Seriously, if you can beat it once, beat it 25 more times. Make it a real challenge not some happy, we won once we deserve this very op item.

I think Allie will admit that it was made too hard, but its already been nerfed [im pretty sure] so rather then just keep nerfing it until it can be beaten easily (which would be a cheap way out) she has decided to reward whoever can beat it before it gets nerfed again.
Title: Re: Ross' Raid team
Post by: Allie on February 01, 2014, 01:27:48 AM
The map has taken us between three and four months of weekly attempts to get this far. At this point, I have recognized no one else is interested in such high difficulty gameplay (not to say more difficult is the wrong way to go), so those who have went above and beyond to complete the map should be rewarded justly.

When we complete it, it will receive a nerf to make it still difficult, but possible for players who aren't hardcore voice chat raiders like we are. That said, I find it entirely valid for those who completed the challenge pre-nerf to receive the item before those who do it post-nerf. Our strategy will be commonplace for those after us to complete it, and I'm sure many of the initial eight who receive RT2 will be helping others to achieve it aswell.

I am not seeing your issue. You're either intentionally being illogical because you are not one of the eight, or you're suggesting players who complete an (incredibly) difficult map pre-nerf deserve the same reward as those who complete it after a drastic nerf.

Either way, we'll be moving on to raid 250 on to RT3 the week after, so we won't have time to complete it another 15 times to gear everyone up. That said, victors of the pre-nerf version, we would be able to complete the nerfed version perfectly fine, which, in my opinion, warrants a reward that allows us to skip it.

Also, laxus, the first nerf actually drastically lowered hp/damage of most of the mobs.

It is fair and you know it.
If you make an eight man group and complete it, I will happily give your group the RT2 set instead of ours.
Stop being ignorant presumeably just because you're not getting the set. There is nothing unfair about justly rewarding players who are completing content while it is difficult more so than those completing it after it's been nerfed.
Title: Re: Ross' Raid team
Post by: Rossbach on February 01, 2014, 02:58:16 AM
Ross is not shur how this is unfair. It is a reward for the first team to beat it. If you want it, then go and get it, it is up for grabs for anyone willing to go though all the work and effort to get it. Now onto the reward, Ross does not really care for such a reward. All this will do is save the time of the 8 who completed it, from having to beat it 12+ more times on a even more nerfed map. Basically, the reward is kinda useless besides a time saver. Which IRO is more than fair for the team that beat it. Considering how much time they have spent time on a higher difficulty-map, figuring out starts, as-well as forming a team that would accept the challenge. Oh and also the fact that we found a shtiton of problems with the map (Kow and cher glitching,) which got patched. After the map is beat, Ross will be posting a detailed guide on 235, everyone else that comes after the first team will be simply copying the strat on a even more nerfed map. Be happy you background characters that sit around crying, you will get your nerfed map, with a detailed guide so you do not have to think for yourself. Anyways, if it was not given out this is what would happen:

1. Considering we can already beat it = we can will beat it again.
2. Considering it will be nerfed, we will be able to do it more easy and faster.
3. Considering the team will be getting rt2 armor each completion will make it even faster and more easy, game after game.

Ross does not understand how this is such a drastic thing. Ross would prefer a different reward. Silly bugs. ::)

Edit:

Oh and for you Cooky:

No the map was not made too hard, it was meant to be drastically hard. Sadly it had to be nerfed, multiple times, due to the player base. Anyways if you were to compare the current map, with what was originally planned, it well... Yeh, would be rather hard. The last wave is a laughing stock, compared to what it was originally planned as.

We made a good effort tonight everyone, nearly 10 hours of trying to beat this map. Got to the final wave but lost, tried hard to get back but couldn't make it. Allie thinks we can beat it tomorrow and it looks like a group has been made that doesn't include me (I have to work). I wish them the best of luck. I'll be pretty upset if I don't get to be part of the winning team seeing as how much time and effort I have put into it, but at least I can feel good knowing I helped. Its just going to be hard to convince myself it wasn't a waste of 20+ hours of my life seeing as how the idea of being first to accomplish something has been the driving force for me through this massive grind.

I would like to point out that an approximate total of 61+ hours have been wasted trying to beat this impossible raid because Allie is unwilling to admit defeat. I know it is an amazing goal to shoot for, but meanwhile, the rest of us just gotta sit back and watch as one small fraction of the community tries over and over and over to beat it. She should have nerfed it a long time ago, and just kept this version as "raid mode hard" or something, so she would still be able to prove that it's beatable. But srsly, if you guys don't beat it today, that's yet another week that the rest of us have to wait to even bother trying to beat it...

I'm not trying to be harsh, cause I understand why you guys are attempting such a massive goal. But I can't help but be a bit fed up. I think quite a few others would agree with me....

Attempt it yourselves.
We're not the gods of BC. We're a raid group who are actually trying to accomplish something.
It's not our fault you're sitting around waiting for a nerf. Try the damn map.

Well sorry, but nobody else is capable of bringing together such a team of players. The only logical day to raid is Saturday, and you guys already have all the best players in your team. Heck, you and Ross even know the entire layout of the map.

To top it off, half the community lags too much to survive, because of their distance from the server or internet connection, so that limits the number of iseable players significantly. Even players with good connections can lag like hell on raid.

Basically you're the only team capable of completing it.

EDIT: I might also add that I have a life, and that I'm not willing to waste nearly 3 full days trying to beat a needlessly impossible map. If it's taken you guys this long to even get this far, I can guarantee it would take everyone else at LEAST this long, and probably even longer. You have the only players willing to devote that much time to this project...

My WoW raid days are Tuesday and Thursday. Don't tell me Saturday is the only day.
Multiple of our raiders have applied to, and been willing to raid in other groups. We do not hog the "best players".
Lag is a non-issue if you have a good strategy. Ross stood in slot 1 for 4-5 months of weekly raids, and he has never not been R until yesterday. Do not complain about lag.

You make no good reasoning as to why we are the only group attempting this content. The only answer is that you and everyone like you want raid to be as easy as sector, and that's simply not what it is. I don't even want to nerf it, but alas all of you who can't or won't attempt something harder than punch for 30 seconds need to complete the content aswell.

sigh
You are the reason WoW's raiding community is dying.

Your community is A LOT smaller than WoW's, so don't give me that. And I definitely don't want it to be as easy as sector, but taking almost 4 months to make it to block 5 is retarded. It should be able to be beaten with a week of intense training. 2 weeks max. Not 4 months

The strategies already exist.
There should be no reason for a second group to take an additional four months.

Half (more than half? maybe?) of our group joined other groups that literally never bothered attempting it.
That's not exactly keeping the strat tightly knit.
The only thing that we are hiding is the boss of 235. And that's for suspense.

You kinda can heal yourself because we all have leech. We can gain health back in one mob.

Thornz, get out you spoon fed cry baby. This topic is not meant for this sort of discussion. It is towards beating it, not crying on how it needs to be nerfed so you can play it, as you lack the care, dedication, and skills, to beat a challenging map.  ::)

Kk. I'm done arguing anyway. I stopped caring about this raid months ago, but I'm trying to speak up for everyone else that is rage quitting it. Since i knew it will eventually be nerfed, i figured you might as well nerf it now and just keep the option to have it be this difficult. Sorry for going off-topic ::)

We have mastered block 1-4 but we are stuck on 5. We don;t know how to get the bubbles away from bombs so we can hit and still be able to kill base in the certain amount of time. Once we find a good way of doing that we will win.

Stop 30minutes ago. Legacy and Hanna had to go. Then i just got so tired because 15 hours of raid is tiring. I'm very bummed we didn't win but oh well can dwell on the past.

Thing that makes it take so long is wave 5. Unlike waves 1-3 (which we could easily get back to), wave 5 takes a long time to actually get to let alone survive in (mostly because wave 4 requires a lot of time). :c
If we could shorten wave 4 we could get to wave 5 all the time.

Would be better if we played a little bit every other day or so. So instead of playing 9 hours for the whole week in 1 day, we spread it out and we can play more as well (like an hour every other day or smthg)
Yes, that would be smarter. But it's harder to get on a roll and get to block 5 a lot if we only play 1 hour a day. Plus we all live in different time zones, so, on school nights that wouldn't work out.
