Works with everything that uses DNS! Including PS3 and Xbox360.
http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ (http://code.google.com/p/namebench/)
Try out namebench. It hunts down the fastest DNS servers available for your computer to use. Namebench runs a fair and thorough benchmark using your web browser history, tcpdump output, or standardized datasets in order to provide an individualized recommendation, Namebench is completely free and does not modify your system in any way. This project began as a 20% project at Google.
Namebench runs on Mac OS X, Windows, and UNIX, and is available with a graphical user interface as well as a command-line interface.
Enjoy :) I gained 94% speed, it also reduced my lag with other players considerably.
Step 1. Download NameBench;
Step 2. Run NameBench;
Step 3. Look at the top right of your HTML log, and in the box where it says "recommended configuration (fastest and nearest)" note the top 2 servers;
Step 4. Use the first two DNS from step 3 with the following guide:
Windows XP: http://www.plus.net/support/domains_and_dns/dns/changing_dns_xp.shtml (http://www.plus.net/support/domains_and_dns/dns/changing_dns_xp.shtml)
Windows Vista: http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_vista.shtml (http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_vista.shtml)

Step 5. Restart your internet, and your done!
( Restarting your internet can take several minutes ).

Then you've made a mistake and picked a DNS server which is 50% slower instead of the right one.
I'd like to be mean with you but my current position doesn't allow me to. >_>
OH MAI GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT 162% FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :o :o :o :o DUDE THANKS BRO ;D

hai grim can u help me do it with teamviewer i suck at these stuff
Erm sure, PM me ID / Pass when you have time.
China Netcom Shandong CN is
96.9%
Faster
than your current primary DNS server
WOOHHOOOO this should be stickied
Bump. Rabita reminded me of this guide and I realized that it might still be helpful.
Welp, don't try this if you have a PPPOE connection.
In the windows vista guide it says me to go to Lan properties but i use wireless, does this make any difference or is Lan internet required?
btw your windows vista link goes to windows xp, the correct link is http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_vista.shtml (http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_vista.shtml)
It shouldn't make any difference.
Google Public DNS-2 is
80.4%
Faster
so what is the next step? i got this list with all the % increases, do i just take the top 2 with most difference?
Follow the tutorial depening on your OS, on the adapter settings use "Primary DNS" for "Prefered DNS" in the settings,
and use "Secondary DNS" for "Alternitve DNS"
You get the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS from the pop up page after your namebench is done testing
Thanks for this :3
80.4% faster internet ;D
If some1 could do that for me with teamviewer i would be really happy.
Problem is, it doesn't make your internet faster. It'd make calling webpages faster, but packet travel will remain the exact same, in some cases slower.
DNS only resolves domain names, which means when you go to http://www.zylongaming.com/, (http://www.zylongaming.com/,) it tells you what IP to connect to. In other words, only that initial call will be faster swapping to a new DNS server, not the actual loading of the webpage itself.
