Post by: NeoKiller on July 18, 2011, 12:47:13 PM
I want to start with GFX, however I don't know, should I use GIMP or Photoshop, what is better or/and easier for beginners...?

PS = best.
Gimp = mini PS with a lot less stuff and complicated interface.

The skilled GIMP user can do almost everything you can do in photoshop, or get very close. For a beginner is way easier and less heavy so usa that first times

I mostly used gimp and a lot of people said I was best in old BC community, the rest were photoshopperz..

I recommend going  photoshop if you can, but if you can't it really isn't a bad thing, gimp can be better

Gimp is more user friendly and free
Photoshop is more complicated but has more features but you have to pay unless you get a crack.

I use Photoshop, but I recommend you to use Gimp for a beginner.

I gave Meta a link to PS CS5 cracked ask him for the link. He has it on his laptop fully works.

Good luck on the sig making...

Just keep practicing and don't let anyone stop you from making sigs.

This. If you ever feel like you're terrible at sig making, just remember if you keep going you'll wind up great. Every good GFXer was once a nub like Allie :)

To add on to Tricky and Bounty with visual evidence, here is an example of starting off, and progressing to quite a GFXer.

Much of what can be done in PS and GIMP can be done on there, except this is online so there's no download required.

There isn't too much of a difference between GIMP and PS, you won't really notice much of a difference unless you're very familiar with a certain program and an advanced user. Other than that, it's almost all the same. PS can do a few things that GIMP can't (although advanced GIMP users can replicate it all with ease as far as I'm aware) but that doesn't really matter since chances are you probably won't be using those settings. Most tutorials are written for PS though so that's a plus for PS users but then again, if you're familiar with GIMP, it's pretty much all the same.

Personally, I use GIMP. It all depends on what you prefer.
