Scrolls/Exos are obtained either from the shop or boss mode.
However, from the shop requires a large amount of carats (however as does boss mode as opening chests is expensive as hell).

Just save up and buy items in the shop.
If you don't pay attention to your carats and just have fun you'll notice you should get a lot more then you would think.
