I'm trying to set that as my avatar but it wont let me because it says the file is too large, even though it's file size and the dimensions are smaller than my current avatar's.

Nah, the one I'm using now is slightly blurred, has writing on the border, and is slightly wider. The system automatically resized the one I have right now but it won't do the same to the one I'm trying to upload.
