Post by: KillerPig on July 27, 2012, 10:50:25 PM

I would do both. Mute, if it's an obv. spammer. Kick, if the person is trying to bypass the sytem. I would then mute the person, if he/she continues after the kick. That's not a specific rotation. It could easily be the other way around.

but why kick first when u can mute and solve the problem immediately

Just to warn the person, like a mute would. That's why I said it's not a specific rotation. It can easily be changed on.
@Cooky, What if this person keeps on spamming after the mute? Sure, you will just kick, but what if the person keeps on spamming. That's where  I would report it to a GM or an admin. Just like I would, if  a mute was given.

nono. warning is just to warn the person. muting and kicking are forms of punishment

just mute again???

kicking shouldnt be a form of punishment in regards to spamming. they can log right back in and continue where they left off.
well, unless u have some nab spamming people through whisper

When I was a Mod and someone was spamming I would just warn he/she. If he/she continued they would be muted and after the 20minutes goes by if they spamed again I would mute and report to a GM or Admin.

I kinda understand Dewo way of muting thing.... But it's basically saying "Stop spamming or you will be muted"
So I rather say "stop spamming or you will be muted" then kicking he/she.
Muting is just simply faster and makes the person shut up; and don't have to worry about the spammer for 20 minutes.

Yeah, I usually don't kick players. Only did it 2-3 times or so. One of them for spamming. I prefer using mute. In some situations I would kick the player. Like if the player is in a room spamming the chat. I would give a personal warning, if the person continues, he/she will be punished. As I said, there is no specific rotation. Just a more prefered rotation.

None.
I give a warning first, if he/she decides to continue, I mute him/her.
I never kicked someone from the server for spamming so far and I don't see why I should since a mute solves the problem.

Always depends on the situation.

I'm not an ingame moderator, but kicking a spammer is simply useless.
Why kick him when you can mute him. If he does it again, mute him again.
Kicking will only make the spammer mad and spam some more after he relogged.

I used to warn, mute, kick, then give them a day off ;)  If they ignored the warning etc...
