Title: Bring back staff apps

at least that way we wont have protests and all this other shit thats going on since the people got to pick who would "lead" them

You could open up staff applications for about a week and just watch how the people act ingame/forums. They could easily be replaced if they're just staging the whole thing.

I think we should bring back the applications aswell. We can still have the observation thing too.

No. Staff apps are a bigger popularity contest than you guys believe the current system is. We've gone through this, realized it was a bad idea, got over it. Our best staff member was handpicked, and our next one will be too.

?
I was just starting here when I saw the staff applications and most of it was just pathetic. Most just turned into long threads with people giving their opinion and then the thread got locked until the staff made a decision. We know who's qualified and who is not. We don't need an application section.

heres what the staff section was to me:
person made app
community said yes or no
allie made final decision (even if someone got 100 yes's she could still deny)

And that too made people upset. It allowed the community to be like "Why did you pick that guy!? We like this guy!"

If community votes for the person, then the current monitoring system could then kick in. It could be a compromise between the two systems. Then they could be put on a trial, maybe pass an entrance test.

Some of the pathetic tries were hilarious though. I can remember agenys and the "if i break a rule you can send me to the demotion hole" i died of laughter that day

OR. Put both into effect. Find as many people as you think are worthy, then have the people think who is better suited. THEN have allie's final word.

Like this:
-Scenario-
Allie finds 2 normal in-game players. Pig and Neo (not really just examples)
Posts on forums. Who would you rather see as staff? Pig or Neo.
People pick Neo
Neo gets staff.

It wouldn't be a problem because Allie picked 2 people that are worthy and the community picked who they wanted to see out of the 2 people that were picked worthy.

staff apps were good , they weren't all a popularity contest
in both cases the decisions will be biased.
but i'd rather have the community choose than just one person

Wouldn't matter because both are good choices for the job. a.k.a equal.

it doesn't even have to involve staff apps. maybe a voting thread

Applications are a must. They can show so much about a person and could possibly destroy their chances of getting the spot  ::)

I liked the staff app section because if someone actually bothered to make a nice solid application without grammatical errors, it meant that they care about it, and that they're worthy.

Staff apps were nice, they gave a voice to the community in staff members.

You do know when Allie says no, it means no, no matter what, don't you?
Also, every post that said +1, or that didn't give a valid reason whatsoever wasn't even taken in consideration.

No. Staff apps are a bigger popularity contest than you guys believe the current system is.
this
when a well-known forumer applied, most of the forumers (since most of the forumers are friend with each other) said "+1, you deserve this, blabla". people who went against it were very rare and most people who criticized the applicant were his "enemies" for some reason
another reason i -1 this is, staff application section would be a forum only thing. if the community wants to have a say in a staff promotion then it should the community, not the forumers.  + most of non-forumers probably wouldnt care, and you most forumers just like when there's drama/staff matters going on (take a look at the feedback/rants section and look at the subcject of the threads with most replies) and having a section about staff just to entertain people is a big nono

this.

if allie picked 2 equally deserving people and asked the community to vote, bias would actually be acceptable here. both people are good for the job but the one who is more liked will get it.

Have it like other forums where there's an app section like we used to and it says "Staff Applications are [ ]"

OPEN
CLOSED

When open; people can post apps. Better yet, there will be a link where they can PM the Zylon Events account (or a new account specifically for apps.)

It'll totally cut out the communities opinion. But, they will have a final say after staff selects a few applicants and reveals who can possibly be in staff and for what position.

Community has x time to give their say, then staff decides.
