Why is there an age limit to buy a lottery?

i wanted to buy one today. but i came home and found out there's an age limit to buy it... is that in every state??

1. This is to prevent underage people from gambling. Young people become gamblers and can't deal with their problems maturely and responsibly. 2. Yes. You have to be 18 in most places to get a lottery ticket. Here in Louisiana, 21 is the minimum age for this.
