It's really hard to make money from scratch if you're not richly inherited, and without much acadamic skills. But once if you manage to make plenty of money, you can make a lot more than those scholars.

also, as far as i know (i read about where the best players currently play), the best players play in showdown, which is where they've played since gen 5.
