Updates / Updates - Guild Co-Leaders
October 15, 2012, 04:07:24 AM
The long-desired feature, Co-Leaders, has finally been designed and released.

With this release, you will be able to give the Guild Master abilities to other members (three total) and they will have the ability to accept, invite, and kick players from the guild. We feel this will make Guild management a lot easier!

You guild masters will login without the ability to add co-leaders, and you will have to scrounge around for (at least) 75Million gigas to purchase a Co-Leader coupon from the shop in order to add an additional co-leader to your guild (maximum three). Once you buy the coupon, the guild can use those three co-leader slots infinitely, so it is worth the money!

Once you have the coupons, you can simply type @guild co-a {member name} to promote a player, or @guild co-r {member name} to demote a player. Naturally, you can only do this if you are the Guild Master, Co-Leaders cannot do this, nor can they kick the Guild Master or other Co-Leaders.

In other news, the Guild page has been modified to show Co-Leaders and the total Sector/PvP/BvB guild points in-game as we found it was too annoying to have to check through the rankings. We hope it benefits you more than the time we put into it.

I'd like to say that we haven't been having many updates lately. But I would like to confirm at this point that within the next few months, we have a pretty large list of upcoming updates, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Enjoy the updates,

General Discussion / Just wanna make a public statement
October 11, 2012, 04:48:14 PM
There's been a lot of talk (especially because of Cooky) that some staff members have been breaking rules by lying.
However, I would like to take the time to mention that staff members being verbally dishonest is not against the rules. Being honest is not part of their staff duty -- in fact, high staff members (some GMs and all Admins) purposely lie to you to keep things in Administration pretty consistently, and we don't deny this. We've even had some members swear secrecy to Administration information, which we rarely give an honest answer to.

In short, as staff members we aren't always going to be honest with you, and in some cases us in Administration request our staff members to lie about some things. Reporting a staff member for lying is as fruitless as reporting them for having orange text -- it's just not against the rules.

However, harassment takes a different charge. Just because you're spreading the truth around does not make harassment okay. If someone did something embarrassingly at a party, and you tell EVERYONE about it, that is strong harassment. Same thing here.

Thanks for those of you who actually read it.

General PvP / Gentleman's Top Tier PvP Rules
September 30, 2012, 05:51:59 PM
These are the rules which are primarily understood by most top tier players. They are designed to keep a fun, fair meta game. Follow them and let me know if I've missed any.

1. Pushing is 100% acceptable and you are not to get upset if you are pushed.

2. Do not attack until at least 3 seconds has passed in the game. Attacking before someone else gets the chance to move is unacceptable.

3. Avoid TD and BST whenever possible. TD ruins the point of trans, destroying meta game, and excessive BST makes you a near impossible target. Useful to a point, op past that line.

4. No II. If you have that, you are a horrible PvPer and should immediately logoff. This includes Mobility Boost.

5. In 1v1s, taking an HP will result in your opponent getting three hits on you, out of trans, combo until the last hit.

6. In team PvP, where level distance is large, avoid teaming on lower levels.

7. In any non-1v1 PvP game, especially stake games, avoid using kowbat/Jura.

8. Whilst staking, avoid using any item deemed "overpowered" by the community.

9. Never boast about a win, especially if you have stronger gear than your opponent.

10. Avoid type/afk hitting the best you can.

Announcements / In spite of recent events...
September 23, 2012, 11:05:21 PM
We in Zylon Gaming are considering a full economy reset.
What this means is resetting everyone's gigas, coins and bot stract to 0 (excluding 500 gigas).
The shop will be heavily modified, sales prices will be modified to reflect an actually-working economy and all methods of obtaining gigas will be modified for everyone to build back up on.

We understand all the troubles that have been going on lately, but this has been a long time coming, and the stake issue has been a hard hit giving us a reason to finally do this.
We will not if everyone is against it, but please, when telling us your thoughts, consider the well being of the game more so than personal gain. The game needs this.

I'll be doing a Q&A on this in about 20 minutes in-game, whether there's anyone there or not.

I was going to release this only in the Staff section, but as has been noted, it'll get leaked anyway.

I want feedback and revision on my summary of the new game. I want to also note this isn't even half of the full proposal so far, and is the only portion of the proposal I plan to publicly release.

I take this thread seriously, and I will be deleting any and all off topic posts with a warning.

Zylon Gaming New Game
-----------------------------------
Name: undefined
Genre: Fantasy MMORPG
Developer: Zylon Gaming
Platform: Java
Mode: Multiplayer
Distribution Type: Web interface/external executable
-----------------------------------
Summary:
Medieval to Feudal Era timezone, set in a custom world named Kerra, divided into multiple regions with cities within each region. Each region has its own type of enemies, resources, and quests to further the player's adventure.
Players are represented by a 3D avatar using a third-person view, which can have the hair (head), body, and legs customizable, with base clothing and different above-clothes sets available (ie armour). The avatar can either be male or female, and gender can be changed at any time (for a fee) in one of the major cities. The avatar can walk using the WASD keys, select a target using the mouse (left click), perform custom actions (ie cut a tree) using the mouse (right click) to bring up a menu, perform attacks using the keyboard (q button), perform magic spells using the keyboard (e button), and multiple other features available through through the keyboard.
Unlike a linear storyline, the player has multiple goals in the game, decided by the player themselves. With multiple skills available, combat is available but not the only option to further a player in their game. Skills are essential to further combat abilities in ways such as creating your own weapons to defend yourself.
------------------------------------
Combat:
The combat system works as a real-time combat system, using a complex system of delays to enable real-time combat in a simple, easy to control interface. Attacks are used via the keyboard (q button). Depending on the weapon used, a delay is triggered, disallowing any further attacks until said delay is complete. The delay length is dependent on the specific weapon in use (ie a one-handed weapon would take longer than a two-handed weapon to attack again). Pressing the attack button at the correct timing after the delay is over is important for efficient combat (though it's not required, the attack button will specify a new attack at any point after the delay is over).
Meanwhile, the player will also be using another key on the keyboard (f button) for shielding, which must also be done manually (in most cases). For example, if a player is wielding a sword and a shield, the player must press the attack button to attack, then, if they wish to, use the shield button to bring up their shield. It should be noted that a shield does not 100% cancel out all damage, but significantly lowers the amount of damage done, and lowering the chance of being hit at all.
In addition to direct melee combat, other combat options are also available. Spells (and other various magic operations) can be used via the spell button (e button). The spell button, which is the only button that can be used to cast a spell, will cast a spell that is selected from a spellbook. Spells primarily consist of multiple levels of elemental spells, various "special" spells, and teleports.
Combat itself automatically aims at any given target, which implies you cannot attack without a target (selected using the left mouse click button), with the exception of some AoE magic spells. This includes ranged methods (ie a bow and arrow).
------------------------------------
Skill Summarys:
The players will be eligible to train multiple skills whilst continuing their adventure. These skills vary from combat itself to specific skills to benefit combat in any given way. To start off, the max level for any given skill is 60 (which can and will be boosted to a higher level as more content is added).
------------------
Combat:
The overall Combat level determined using a formula taking into account all the other levels.
-------
Aim:
A simple skill which is trained by landing attacks on enemies. As it implies, a higher Aim level makes attacking an enemy more likely to land a hit.
-------

-------
SwDefense:
A skill which is trained by deflecting damage whilst using a sword. A higher SwDefense level allows a given player to deflect damage more often whilst using a sword, nulling any and all damage, as well as allowing a given player to wield more powerful armour along with SwDefense. This skill is not related to ShDefense or the general defense any given sword gives to lower damage.
-------
Magic:
A skill which is trained through successful execution of magical abilities. Magic can be done by consuming MP (Magic Points), which slowly regenerate over time. A higher Magic level allows a given player to cast higher leveled spells, as well as use a greater pool of SP.
-------

-------
Crafting:
A skill which is trained by using blueprints to work any given item into a new craft. A higher Crafting level enables a player to craft higher leveled items. This skill is not related to Blacksmithing or Woodworking.
------------------------------------
Skill Specifics:
Though any given skill has its basic how-to-train, each skill has its own specific level requirements for a given skill.
------------------
Combat:
The Combat formula is as followed:
      Aim = A
      Strength = S
      Highest Defense = HD

We at ZG are strongly considering a new game created from scratch, for full copyright and edit purposes. We have coders, planners, even sound artists but no graphic artists/modellers/animators.
If any of you are serious about helping, seriously let us know. We will pay you well.

All scores are out of 10, total scores are out of 30.

Cooky:
Total Score - 18
RedEyes - 8 (Has sound effects, decent messages through out, only problem is the beginning, we should use leapmans if we pick this one.)
Allie - 5 (Moderately cool video, unprofessional as **** with text commands and other misc shit, pretty good music)
Yz - 5 (originally 6 but the music was wtf. liked the uniqueness of some scenes. Kow scene and scene with players runing was kewl. The red bar with text was unprofessional in da sense that everyone with a basic movie making program spams using it but it was professional in the sense it looked neater than other peoples texts)

BC TRAILER_0003

Meteor:
Total Score - 16.5
RedEyes - 5 (Has NO sound effects, plays too much sector compared to other modes, the blurrness at the end is shit)
Allie - 5.5 (Nice story, okay flow, no sound effects but the music makes up for it. Great ending, but still unprofessional video)
Yz - 6 (Liked the effects and the transing scene was pretty cool. Transitions were smooth but music didn't match game and some of the footage was boring and cliche~)

BoutCheetah Trailer

Nucleaon:
Total Score - 11.5
RedEyes - 4 (Too much unnecessary stuff, such as the modded smiley head, the beginning where he's entering cyberspace, no SOUND EFFECTS)
Allie - 4 (Nice altogether, zoom kills in some parts, flow is terrible)
Yz - 3.5 (was slow/boring for a while and some bits were kinda unrelated to a trailer. The only good bit was when it had the purple "Join the fight!" effect imo)

BC Trailer Final

Surgey:
Total Score - 8
RedEyes - 6 (Has sound effects, one major problem, it is 5 minutes long, and some parts get pretty repetative after awhile lol.)
Allie - 1 (Do we really want a pokemon skin representing BoutCheetah)
Yz - 1 (Pokemon Skin is unprofessional and too many mods)

Boutcheetah trailer

Lasercut:
Total Score - 7.5
RedEyes - 2 (All he did was get out fraps and press record, then added some text here and there.  No SOUND EFFECTS)
Allie - 3 (Overall bad video, somewhat cool flow at the end and nice graphic effects)
Yz - 2.5 (Originally 3.5 but the music was wtf. The only original scene was the end where the transitions matched with the music, other than that was boring.)

BoutCheetah - The Trailer

Leapman:
Total Score - 3
RedEyes - 3 (Beginning/End was decent, but the main part of it was terrible, no offence.)
Allie - 0 (Besides beginning/end, it was an entirely unfinished project. 0 for no effort)
Yz - 0 (looked like my ass - coulda been made a thousand times better if he didn't get lazy)

Announcements / An accomplishment {regarding autoban}
August 05, 2012, 06:30:09 AM
I was just having a discussion with Kenny, and we came to a decision regarding it.
We both enjoyed a lol that we literally both forgot about the logs because we're hack-free now.
And because we're hack free, we've decided to remove the autoban as it is only banning legit people now.

That said, have fun, speed runners! We hope to see the fastest times now that you won't be banned for it.
