I don't think that is a smudge, more like a layer set on dissolve.

Hawk basically took the words out of my mouth so....

Try using some C4Ds and stocks as you progress, it can give improves the sig overall like 100x better

I agree it isn't good, but I don't think the render is blurred; I think it's the surrounding stuff making it seem blurred.  I dunno wtf I am talking about, so don't trust.
