I read that in order to buy snowballs from the shop, you need to complete certain achievements in Sector mode. However, after recently logging on, collecting my daily gift and heading to the shop to look at the new items, I realised that without even playing a game in any mode I was able to buy snowballs from the shop (under the 'Special" tab). No, I have not bought any (and don't want to anyway).

I am able to purchase them by spending either gigas or coins.

maybe when u try to buy it, u get told that u have to complete the achievement? Idk how it works i never looked in the shop for snowballs

Yeah, it will show you that you must complete Achievement #X in order to purchase this item.
