Well, this past week Corr has gotten me to start playing base with him and a few others. I've always disliked base, for really no reasons other than "I'm not good at it" or "It takes too long".
The first day we played, he taught me the basics. Such as merc pushing, how to be relentless when playing, how to lure mercs to get to the opponents side of the spawn, spacing, where to use trans and how to use it effectively.
When that game was over, I looked at the score screen to see how I did. Well it wasn't that good at all actually. It takes time though, to put the advice Corr gave me, and what I already know to get better at it. It's actually not that long to start getting the hang of it.
On the second training day Corr got me hooked. We had a 1v1 that day for practice then a 4v4 game if I can remember correctly. We did about a total of four 1v1's and maybe three or four 4v4's, in my week of "Base Boot camp".
Each game we played, I felt like I was getting better, and I was too. I could sense I was helping more, even if it didn't show on the score screen or it did. Yes, sometimes there's that move that can make you be like "How the hell did he do that" and make you get a little mad. But you now know what to look out for and try to stop it from happening again.
I always thought that I would hate base and would never play it, but I never gave it my full 100% dedication to it, to see if I like it or not and then judge it on my own opinion. Now that I can actually do something in base, I can give my honest opinion on it, and I love base.
I just checked with Corr, he said if you're willing to try, ask him.
