While it would be a horrible way to do it, once the camera angle is changed it won't actually matter from your point of view.

Unfortunately, there is no technicality around the fact that we'd have to remodel every map.
Maps are not designed to be viewed in anyway but directly, or slightly diagonal. Viewed from the side or behind will not show correct textures.
