I googled my best friend from my childhood (I moved away and never saw him again)

 and found out that in the past year, his dad died, and my friend was arrested for 2 robberies, and for drugs, and also 'criminal use of communication facility' whatever that means

I think "criminal use of communication facilities" is when you abuse a radio station or something like that for criminal uses like drug etc.
It's only my supposition though..
