Save it as jpg, then rename it as the correct file extension name from the folder you saved the jpg in.

Not 100% sure png always works, for some reason I used jpg

It depends if u flatten image or merge visible layers.

Png is for transparency.
Jpg is for non-transparency.
Gif is for animations.
Bmp is for low quality piece of shit images.

PNG is also for higher quality. Most people know about the transparency and GIF bit. Nobody asked bout bmp.
