You should just make a normal border.

New Layer > Select All > Edit > Stroke (I think) > 1, 1.5, or 2 px.

Or kev had a tutorial on this one nice border effect.
Then with the border MAKE IT AT LEAST MATCH.
Hope this is good enough.

Colored borders look rediculous IMO. Also, I almost always stick with either black or white. Moreover, the north south enlargement in comparison to the left/right is done to give that action like feeling you see in movies, or trailers for vid games/movies.

Can I get something other than border suggestion; again this is simply a matter of preference.
