Acclaim was legit, they communicated with players (me anyways, I can't speak for the rest of the community) and were always loyal. Maybe because I held conversations with GM's on a regular basis, but that can't be it.
Acclaim did what they could with a dying game, they weren't able to update much less patch it because it really wasn't 'their' game to begin with.
As you'll see with most game companies that publish japanese or Korean games, they have no control over the updates, patches, etc.
