I believe it's because of boredom that they do it.
I mean, if you start a new account because you are bored you would eventually return to your main account because you find it hard to get high level.

I personally would never reset my account, not even with the most heavy hangover i would.

I thought they just reseted exp without becoming lvl 1 since they kept the gp but I suppose Santa or Allie took care of this.
