An excellent example was from the 1970s, a man around the age of 30 jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge.
His suicide note read simply the following:
"I'm going to walk to the bridge. If one person smiles at me on the way, I will not jump."

Save lives: smile at other students when walking through school hallways, swallow your pride and defend those being bullied.
You'll never know whose life you're saving, and what future you're changing.

"Whoever saves one life, saves the entire world."

You know what else could have been done to save his life? Stopping him when it was clear he was making his way to the edge of the bridge. I smile, say hi, and try to be nice for sake of being genuinely nice, not to save lives or do someone a favor. Know what I mean?

Gavin, I see what you mean, but the entire reason that happened was not because he wanted a smile so he wouldn't suicide, it'd be because he wanted someone to acknowledge he was there.
When you smile at someone, you are basically showing that you acknowledge they exist, rather then when you walk right by them without even a look.
Some people are driven to suicide because they feel invisible, a simple smile would make them feel better.
