As probably the only professional ion user im calling bullshit on this one.
Ion's awesome, and has plenty of uses, but it's more of a gc skill. It doesn't have the capabilities that other (more useful) skills do.
Ion is a skill which relies primarily on your "skill-less" power and ion only as a secondary attack when a good opportunity arises. Meanwhile other skills (such as rush and upper) cover plenty of external ground to be used as a primary attack.

but ya don't limit yourself to one skill just because your not a member. get full TD and whatever item you want except Jura because hey, you can get away with it since your a non-member.

upper/etc. is helpful even with less speed. it's just that you gotta be more aware of when someone flys into your screen and hits you then disappears again. mobility boost should do the trick. cuz hey, your a non-member~

Opti's best with upper. Opti + upper + non-lagger = destroyed in blue, consistently.
You were close though, no one has mastered the mid-air technique, the closest is probably star, who can do it an average of 90% of the time. Next that I know of is me/Opti, both at around 50% of the time, maybe me a bit lower at 40-45%.
