"Unable to update your client"

So i downloaded the setup, installed and then went to run the launcher in admin mode with it accepted on my antivirus and firewall. A message popped up saying;
"We were unable to update your client due to an error when reading the patch files. If you would like to repair the issue, press OK now. " so i press ok and then on the launcher it says "downloading file: ./bout.dat... 1/4962" and it just stays like that no matter how long i leave it. Also if i click cancel when the first message appears the play button lights up but pressing it does nothing. Am i being stupid or is there a fix for this?

sorry if this is in the wrong section i couldn't see a help/ support section.


EDIT: i was just being stupid my bad, i added the bout.exe to my firewall allow list but not the real time file scanner so once i done that it worked.
