I don't have Gimp but this is a way to blend something with the BG:
*Using Photoshop, I don't know if all these options are available in Gimp

Copy Layers of the render, put it on the bottom ish layer of the main layer, and go to Filter> (either) Blur/Distort> Choose from the various options to fit your circumstances.

I'm still working on this sig but, the method I used in blending, the shiny/light areas surrounding the render is what I had explained.

I'm still an amateur in gfx'ing, so is Pig.
Anyway, offering simple and easy advises is better than just criticizing someone else's helpful reply.  ::)

Edit: @Tricky, well if you know so much, give him some useful advice on blending.

ok, you're right, here's my advice pig:

don't use nub blending cuz its ugly

i'm not here to give advice or tips im saying what NOT to do

but since you guys are making me out to look like a bad guy when i'm much, much better then both of you at gfx and just tryin to steer you off an ugly method, you can follow yoshi's way and QQ about me being abusive or something lol

Piggeh, duplicate that bg layer, move it to the front, set the layer mode to "overlay", then change the opacity to what ever looks the best.

The path is open.
