Heh, already shared my opinion about this subject.
"People will believe in whatever they consider right to believe. No matter how hard you guys try to prove your point, it won't help and surely won't change the other persons' opinion." Which is why I won't bother debating this. Will go endless, until someone gets bored of talking nonsense.

I pretty much agree that it can barely be proven, one way or another. The question is, why are you bothering with this if you can't prove it? What would be the point? Convincing others while you can't prove it yourself? Odd. o.O

I like Opti and Allie. And I believe that if they continue to believe what they are believing, I won't get to shake their hands in heaven... That's why I'm doing it  :-\

Human's have learned to make tools that make their lives easier. That's why we have them.

Well of course that's why, but "evolution" is the ability to adapt by making what is necessary to survive.
Therefore, based on "evolution," we wouldn't have made them.....

You can't force others to believe what you're believing, just because YOU consider it to be right. And heck, just because they have a different opinion means you won't be able to "shake their hands in heaven"? Don't be silly, it's a difference in opinions, nothing else.

Can't tell if you're kidding or not.
And I'd ask you to prove that changes did actually take place... But I already know you can't. Lol.

If you ask me to prove they didn't, my answer:
I can't.
The only evidence that they didn't is that there are no half-"evolved" species, and there are 0 beneficial mutations. If there were beneficial mutations, there is virtually no chance that that mutation would get passed on to the mutated being's offspring, resulting in the loss of that single beneficial mutation.

:|..
There are 1000 animals living on Gavin's Island. They're all the same species. 500 of those animals have offspring with thick fur coats (trait X), 500 of those animals have offspring with fine fur (trait Y). Because of the warm climate, many of the X's die from heat exhaustion and the remaining 250 go on to bear offspring. The Y's not only survive, but thrive in this climate - they all breed come mating season. Fast forward through a couple generations and most, if not all, the X's have died out. All that's left are the Y's and fair number of XY's (they interbred).

Amg look at that, now you have a better understanding of how evolution works. That's a simplified take on one of the aspects of the evolutionary theory but it should suffice. If you want another example, take a gander at redheads. They're dying out because that red hair trait isn't necessarily desirable/dominant. Evolution is more of a filtering process than a magical one.

@ Xrow: Do you really think God (assuming God exists [I beleive in a higher power as well incase you were wondering]) would be so vindictive as to bar people from Heaven simply because they they believed in X more than Y? I highly doubt a higher power that's presumed to have created the entire universe and everything/everyone in it would care about something so trivial. What if Tom was raised in a society where the theory of creationism is unheard of, would God turn him away too?

OMFG INTELLIGENCE!

King, what if I told you that I modified the genome of a select organism that facilitated the generation of a three-valve heart (the previous generation had a two valve heart). This process has the potential to take place over millions of years, given that the coding sequence must mutate for the production of a multicomplex protein//signaling pathway to promote such an event. However, within the laboratory, this can be forced within a single generation given that the coding sequence is known and can be readily duplicated to force such an occurrence. If nature selected for this variant upon its fruition, then this would be beneficial and maintain itself within the species' populous.

This was exactly the thing in my mind, natural selection is what causes evolution, the animals best suited to their environment go on to reproduce and pass down their traits, and the ones that aren't die out and their traits are removed form the gene pool.
This causes evolution.

Well damn o.O You're stubborn, persistent AND stupid..

No sh!t you can alter how you look to a very small degree. And no sh!t the more desirable/stronger species prevails.
But none of the short story you just wrote tells me HOW A NEW SPECIES IS MADE.

Basically you just told me one type of whale prevails over another type of whale. Whoop-de-doo. Give me an example of a whale that sh!ts out a baby with wings that flies south for the winter. /LOL.

I'm sorry, but you'd have to be retarded to believe this bull...

Buut during dinosaur times, there were LESS species that there are now, and DIFFERENT species than there are now.
Unless that one-in-a-few-thousand-billion chance of a beneficial mutation occured MULTIPLE times, AND SOMEHOW STUCK TO A SPECIE'S GENOME, none of what now exists could be in existence. /Evolutionisafool'stale.

I'm starting to seriously question your intelligence, Opti. I've always thought you were fairly smart... But DAMN...

I win.

Humans are by far the dominant species on the modern planet.
And we are rapidly depopulating the earth of the rest of it's species.
A species becomes extinct every 20 minutes.
In 300 years, half of all species will be extinct.
So, in about 475 years, all species, besides humans, will be extinct.
And apparently nothing happens to them when they die, huh?
What happens when humans kill each other and no life is left except a couple of bushes?
Then what? -.-
Then another big bang occurs and bacteria magically comes to existence and uses something it doesn't have to make more and more complicated bacteria that can't possibly be made with the nothingness it has at hand?
Then they turn into...?
A fish?
Then a monkey?
Then a person?
Then they die and become a tree?
Then the tree gets cut down and is printed as a Bible?
Then people are brought to Christ as a result.

Thanks for helping the cause Opti
:]

You've got a point.

But in the next 100 years, main important species like the bumble bee will be extinct. = less green = harder to breath = death.

Thats one example, but theirs alot more than 1 important species dieing in that timespan.

Human existence has ruled for thousands of years but were at the turning point where because of us, the planets going to be destroyed, and perhaps life will recycle again as it had originally 4 billion years ago.

To bring a bigger twist to this, lets introduce religion.

Idk what you've been told but that has nothing to do with Evolution. Some of the XY's will have traits that the Y's dont and if those are beneficial, those traits will remain in the gene pool. The mating and interbreeding continues for many many years until you're left with something drastically different than the original X's. That's pretty much what part of the evolutionary theory is (granted I went straight from point A to point C in that example if you know what I mean). You also have to factor in the changing climates/environments, many of the older species wont walk the earth ever again because of minute changes like the level of oxygen in the air and I'm sure that works the other way around as well.

Please dont tell me you actually beleive a story that states everything we have now has always been here and nothing else came before it. That was the best way for people to make sense of something they had no understanding of, it's illogical... to say the least. Next you'll be saying that plate tectonics is all a myth, the brainchild of a socialist government that wants to harvest our children to feed Earth's extraterrestrial overlords. Or whatever it is you people so devoutly and foolishly beleive nowadays.

You really just can't grasp the concept can you...

Are you even familiar with high school biology? DNA REPLICATION >> TRANSCRIPTION >> TRANSLATION >> PROTEINS

What part of "gradual process" are you not understanding? I'm done, no point in trying to enable your understanding of concepts that are too complicated for your understanding. I just answered your question with my quote..

^The gradual process you speak of would take billions of years, opti.

What xrows speaking of is the present and future, where your grasping the concept of current science and what we could do in the future.

Consider the past and think of this whole thing coming together again as a huge recycling life cycle.

Of course, I haven't read every word of both xrow and opti, but i'm saying this from the posts I've read.

ALLAH ALLAH

Xrow

I didn't read that. So far you've (Opti, you, Allie) just been repeating the same junk anyways.

Let me dumb this down for you.
Humans didn't exist when dinosaurs did.
And 2 'Prevailing species' of triceratops' sure as hell didn't f*ck and make a human with horns and a tail.
And they sure as hell didn't get hit by the evolution stick and turn into a llama.
And the 'prevailing species' of triceratops sure as hell didn't 'prevail' until they became humans
Soooo humans magically came into existence how?

Based on what I've heard, evolution could constitute an orca pooping out a bagel, eating it, and turning into a floating vagina (which is obviously an extinct species by now LOL) and that vagina then sh!ts out Bob Saeget.

Xrow

Lmfao, Opti, please go away until you "evolve" whatever part of your brain is missing.
