I use GIMP. Some use PhotoShop. You can try them both out and see which one fits you more. But they're pretty much more of the same.

Download fonts: http://www.1001fonts.com/ (Google how to install fonts)

Download Brushes: (Download them by googling. Also google how to install them.)


Don't worry about photoshop, since your completely new to this. You'll know all about it (and how to crack it, lul) when you get the hand of Gimp.

Youtube some basic Gimp tutorials to get started, and good luck!

Press Ctrl+N and choose your image size. (for sigs, probably 410x150) and start from there.

Mess around with the tools, follow tutorials and a lot of imagination. As you progress, you will know how to properly use stocks, C4Ds and fractals to name a few.


Renders are basically pictures without background. You can find them through Google, PlanetRenders or DeviantArt. Most signatures have renders as a focus point.
To add renders with GIMP. Click 'File' then 'Open As Layers' and find the file that contains your Render. I don't know how to do it in PS though
