if chkdsk don't work, i doubt you'll be able to fix it with any other methods.
re-install without removing old user data (an option in re-install settings) and the laptop can be wiped while keeping your stuffs.

Considering it. As long as I have my files I don't mind reinstalling a bunch of programs. Just wondering though, will it wipe all drives? (I have 2, C: and D:.) And which drive should I install Win7 on?

I've done this before and the last time it happened, everything was saved except for what was on my desktop. Which currently in a good number of things. So will it save everything on my desktop as well if I go with this method?

Edit: Currently running an sfc scan (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html), perhaps if the system files themselves are corrupt, I can fix it.

It won't wipe anything if you use that method, it would move the old files to windows.old and install fresh.

good luck with that method, may work, but usually I was instructed to re-install after sfc and chkdsk, after recovering the data using a dock.

So sfc scan said it found corrupted files and fixed them. Currently restarting my PC and it's doing a system memory test from "Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool".

If all else fails though I might just do this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93347-copy-paste-windows-recovery-console.html
