in 2010 there were autochecks for it when stuff was flagged, if it was there it would have to be manually checked and half the time nobody can be ****ed unless it gets a billion flags l2distribute

Dunno about that. Soundcloud never had an audio check until recently (past 1-2 years), and only does popular songs dealing with big labels.

YouTube on the other hand, has no mercy whatsoever. It gets so bad that even if you have a sample of a copyrighted song in a track that's completely different from the original, it still gets flagged through the content ID system. You can only rebuttle it after you've been flagged. Don't think either services care what you put in your description because as far as they know, if it truly meets that criteria it won't get flagged in the first place. And if it does, there's the rebuttal system (which is shit) for the 0.1% of times that actually happens for whatever reason.

stuffs gotten worse for youtube yeah, as for soundcloud that was just for good mkeasure :P

on yt you used to be able to get away with a lot though in like 2010 when i started uploading

yeah and you could make a lot more off monetizing back then too.

YT's supposedly rolling out a big update in 2015 with a music streaming service so they can get away with paying artists even less, and soundcloud is going to allow monetising tracks for pro users (which imo should be the past place to have ads. seriously. Also means they're going to update their copyright system so people dont earn money off other people's shit. Making it worse for dj's and artists who sample music).

It's just going to get worse, and mixcloud seems to be on the few options left, and who have promised never to sell out or take down stuff because of how they're setup in terms of paying royalties to artists that were sampled.

I think i remember them hitting their first million members in 2010. Started in 2007.

Wasn't "huge", but they had decent popularity.
