Ya.

Kenny added a md5 hash check for files. (String of numbers + letters that is unique to the file, changing a single kb will change the hash.) Patcher will re-download the files that don't match up.

I'm actually not so sure that's correct.
It could be, but I edit things in the normal client all the time. You should be able to mod.
What problem are you having.

He may have not added all the files and since I don't mod, hard to fully say. However, the check is there. If the patcher is re-downloading everything then it is probably catching it.


Edit:


I edited the login background and some map textures and it worked fine, even though it is listed in the xml.


It might be simply what the patcher checks when you repair the client, but I thought it also checked for moded files.

I tried editing an oa0 and oa2 file, and there was no hint that it wasn't going to work.
But then when I opened the game the items original texture was still there, unchanged.
