I remember when weren't supposed to talk about them but I doubt anyone cares anymore.

So, why and how did they die out?

Yz

sorry i'm not gonna write this very well cuz just got back from a run and tired as **** but here we go

there was only 2 that ever mattered and kind of a third. the 2 that mattered were bout evolution and this one, boutcheetah. the third that was interesting was t-bot as it had some insane updates done to it, we believe they had the source code for the game but i may be remembering wrong

bout evo did a lot of things right, their game was a lot more balanced and less convoluted - however the management was poor as hell, take it from me i was a GM there. their head staff barely knew anything about what was going on in the game as they were all 'too busy' to play or watch over things, so they elected one head gm (jrharbort) to take care of everything but he himself didn't have as much time as he used to. the head staff over there such as hanman were huuuuge angsty pricks and shouted down and berated the staff often. they were really petty against this server too, and most people think this server was equally petty, but it really wasn't - staff members would often flame you if you touched bc over there, whereas here the most petty we did was censor the word (which only a couple of people were even in favor of)

because there was no real head staff that cared and jrhar had left at some point (i also quit after hanman basically called jrhar retarded publicly despite how much jrhar did for them then banned me for defending jrh) it was just a lot of random people who played sector often becoming staff. really no one over there cared anymore and the old head staff may have had some nice plans to begin with but they just didn't give a shit about the game extremely early on.

bc died because kenny got too busy and people got bored, plus there was some drama in 2014 with someone being made staff that went of a bit of a power tripping rampage. but it was the games time anyway, it outlasted bout evo by a great deal and the game just wasn't fun anymore for a lot of people

tl;dr bout evo had horrible management that was condescending and just didn't care. bc head admin lost passion and a lot of people quit at the same time. not sure what happened to t-bot. i guess you could also talk about our bots remake but that's sort of its own project and also head admins lost passion for that as well, it never really took off like the others did

any other private server never mattered and were just made by random hackers that barely spoke english and just wanted to **** with bc or bout evo, they never had stable games and never got a playerbase of more than like 15 active players, and those players would quit within a few weeks anyway

Well *cough* *cough* from what I remember there was also quite a bit of denial of service involve, mostly coming from BC's end towards BE...
But w/e.  Perhaps it was just their incompetency, how would I know :D

also Tricky are you...MiniTricky, the Australian guy? :DD

das me, who's this? and i can assure ya, no favoritism involved cuz i thought both servers were handled pretty bad, both servers were as bad towards each other as possible. i'd say BE was worse because you'd get outcasted if you played this server. it was incompetency from everyones end, but thats what happens when everyones young

Both servers were mismanaged. BE not doing well was mostly Tok's, Hanman's, and Zirak's fault. All three were pretty rude to most players. Tok and Zirak would either rarely update the game in a positive way or would make shit updates that made the game worse (at least by most people's opinions). For example, Zirak made a patch to the game that prevented a large amount of the playerbase from actually logging on to the game in 2012, which resulted in the playerbase being drastically decreased. Before that update, there would usually be ~40 players or so online at any time, but after that update there would only be 2-3 people. In addition, Zirak did something really retarded with BotStract. He made it so that having more BotStract would make your bot jump higher to the point of it becoming completely ridiculous. He also changed the "traditional" +5 system to a +9 system that most of the playerbase didn't want. Those things amongst many others resulted in BE dying.

I'm not really as familiar with BC since I wasn't here at "new" BC since the very beginning. I came here after BE started to die. I think that BC died largely because people just got tired of the game. Most of the updates were just reskins of assets that already existed that had way broken stats. Basically, that means that there were no real updates of substance if you weren't into mindless grinding sector to get GP. I do think BC did a lot of things right though, namely largely improving on BE's [C] tag, offering a lot more gameplay options in PvP, and reducing chain hits. That still doesn't change the fact that there was no real brand new content in PvP or BvB though. Most of the people here who browsed the forums that have been playing Bots off and on for several years just got tired of grinding sector mode, so I think that the demise of BC was kind of inevitable.

Also, T-Bot was shit because they did janky shit with the running speed of the bots. All the bots were really slow, so much so that running+jumping was faster than just running. I'm pretty sure that Fira and Kenny DDOS'd the server frequently as well.

Thanks for sharing dude, was always curious about these finer details.

You really have to feel for some of these tragic characters in mod history.

What I wonder, is that if one day I can see this game again as before when playing with countless friends, now I enter and see 3 or 4 players :(
