I typed a long review of the trailer but feel that people will (based on my reputation) see it as some sort of drama causing bullshit so I recorded myself giving the review to show im just giving my honest opinion and am in no way attempting to start a fight, make anyone feel bad, or break any rules.

At first I, along with probably everyone else who watched it, was immediately blown away by the detail of the video effects.There was so much potential with the effects you created for a truly amazing, professional trailer but I came away very disappointed.

Didnt like the music, didn't start well, didnt flow well, didn't end well. The video showed nothing that made you want to play the game.  There was hardly any clips, they were ridiculously short, the viewing area of the clips was so shrunk down it was hard to get a good look at the game, and the view was obstructed by the effects you created. To me, in all honesty, it was like a glorified slideshow. With all the effects and lack of gameplay footage clips that exceed 2-3 seconds it was near impossible to gather anything from the video besides the text, which was done very poorly. The text was hard to read, unprofessional, and there were typos and grammar mistakes left and right. There wasn't enough time to read the text or understand what was going on in the gameplay footage, let alone somehow manage to digest both of them at the same time. Also.. no clips of players transforming or mention of it besides the bit about rams specialties. Transforming is like the signature part of the entire game and, if I was a person who has never played bout cheetah, after watching the trailer you made I wouldn't even know it was possible.

When judging a trailer you have to look at it from the perspective of someone who has never played the game before. Us Bout Cheetah players see all these trailers through tinted glass because we already know everything about the game, so we tend to be paying little attention to the actual effectiveness of the trailer and pay more attention to all the bells and whistles, like effects, fonts, etc.

If someone who had never played or heard of Bout Cheetah watched this trailer they would have learned next to nothing about the game. All they would know is that you get to pick a character class (like pretty much every game of this type), you have a few different modes to play (like pretty much every game), and you can buy equipment (like pretty much every game). There was no mention of the things that make Bout Cheetah unique. No display/explanation of skill packs, trans packs, guns, mercenaries, or even the entire concept of transforming that is not only the most unique thing about the game but is also the biggest and most important game mechanic.

Doesn't matter how much time you take on the effects and how amazing they may look, that's not what makes a video good or bad. Next time instead of taking 20+ hours working on the effects I would recommend you focus more on the other parts of the trailer, which were really lacking.

Well I was talking to mat over this particular critique you gave me and I do appreciate it. Allow me to offer you two points on my behalf.

A) Due to the short scheme of actual game play footage it should be obvious that this is just a concept for future  trailers. I just wanted to show that a new level of skill for presentation could be achieved as the majority of people use some sub-par stuff like windows movie maker which isn't bad, but not the best.

B) In addition to point A. This is not anywhere close to my best work. My real projects will take an upwards of days to finalize and not just merely hours. Most of the feed back I'm receiving are easy fixes as you can see because of small things like the lack of audio software which I've finally gotten back with the addition of a new mic.

C) I'm actually hoping to get some higher resolution clips which is why I limit the length to only 7 seconds so that I can play with formatting.

Video re-rendering: Sony Vegas pro 12
Audio (which was not present in this video): Sony Acid Pro & Virtual DJ Pro

I'm hoping to have some money to purchase ableton so I can customize my own music so yeah.
